President Gordon B. Hinckley

As many know our beloved Prophet passed away on Sunday. I loved his humour and the feeling of love and peace that you felt every time he talked. I remember the first time that I was in the same room that he was, I had taken 15 young women to the Young Women's broadcast in the conference center. To say the least the girls were pretty wound up and talkative as we sat in our seats and waited for the meeting to begin. All of a sudden there was this overwhelming feeling of peace, that is the only way that I know how to describe it. The conference center went silent and the warmest feeling overcame me, I looked way down at the bottom of the conference center and there he was walking to sit down. Tears came to my eyes as I realized that such a small person could fill a huge conference center with the spirit of Christ. My friend Leslie had some very nice quotes on her blog that he has said in the past and this made me get my quotes out as well. Here are just SOME of the wonderful things that he has counseled us on through the years.
“The time has come for us to stand a little taller, to lift our eyes and stretch our minds to a greater comprehension and understanding of the grand millennial mission of this, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”
You will come to know that what appears today to be a sacrifice will prove instead to be the greatest investment that you will ever make.
"Do the best you can. And remember that the greatest asset you have in this world is those children who you've brought into the world, and for whose nurture and care you're responsible."
—News conference in Salt Lake City, March 13, 1995
“Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just like people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is just like an old time rail journey … delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride.”
'I come to you with a plea that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I am suggesting that as we go through life we try to “accentuate the positive.” I am asking that we look a little deeper for good, that we still our voices of insult and sarcasm, that we more generously compliment virtue and effort.' -Gordon B Hinckley

I am a little embarrassed because I love to blog. Like my title says, "it is my thing" and it doesn't have to do with house work and kids. I have met new people and reacquainted with old friends. It is fun. I'm glad I'm not the only one who blogs. Jason Kirkpatrick wants me to help him set one up:) I love all your pictures. Your kids are adorable.
I love those quotes. Some of them I had never read before. Thanks!
